WEB DESK: India batting star Virat Kohli has hinted that he may not feature in the 2027 Cricket World Cup if he feels the need to justify his place in the side.

Kohli, who played a major role in India’s 2011 World Cup triumph and their recent Champions Trophy success, said he only wants to continue if the team management believes he still brings value to the squad. The 37-year-old, who has already stepped away from Test and T20 internationals, remains available for ODI cricket. Speaking on the RCB Podcast, Kohli explained that he gives everything for the team whenever he takes the field.

He said he is always prepared to put in maximum effort, whether it is fielding for 50 overs, running hard between the wickets, or contributing with the bat. According to Kohli, he approaches every game with complete dedication and intensity.

However, the former India captain made it clear that he does not want to be in an environment where he must constantly prove his importance to the team. He added that if his commitment and work ethic are still valued, he will continue playing, but otherwise he would rather step away.
