Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture Attaullah Tarar condemned the social media campaign
ISLAMABAD: launched by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf that sought to link the 190 million pounds corruption case with religious aspects.
Speaking on X , Tarar emphasized that the decision against PTI’s founder and his wife was made on merit, following the presentation of strong evidence by the prosecution. He accused the PTI founder and his wife of embezzling Rs 80 billion, which was allegedly used to build a house in Lahore. Tarar further claimed that no PTI member had been able to explain the source of the PTI founder’s income.
He stated that the funds, which belonged to the government and the people of Pakistan, were transferred into the Supreme Court’s bank account to assist a business tycoon. Tarar also responded to a query by mentioning that the court had declared those involved in aiding the PTI founder and his wife as fugitives. He added that multiple avenues were being explored to hold the accomplices accountable.
The minister humorously commented that while he had never heard of a five-carat diamond ring before, Bushra Imran had brought it into the limelight. He concluded by demanding that the appeal be heard based solely on merit, without offering special treatment to anyone found guilty in the case.
