Emphasises ANP will reject any amendment extending tenure of constitutional office-holds
PESHAWAR – The Awami National Party has expressed its opposition to any constitutional amendment that infringes on personal freedom.
During a meeting of the party’s Central Consultative Committee in Peshawar, chaired by President Aimal Wali Khan, decisions were made after detailed discussions on the current political situation. Khan emphasised the ANP would reject any amendment extending the tenure of constitutional officeholders and oppose the trail of political workers in military courts.
The party supports judicial reforms and establishment of a Federal Constitution Court, a longstanding demand of ANP, while opposing any amendment that undermines provincial autonomy or the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
