PARIS – Novak Djokovic said he hoped he would get more chances to play Rafael Nadal after beating his old rival in the second round of the Olympics on Monday.
But Djokovic, who played Nadal for the first time when they were still teenagers at the 2006 French Open, told reporters he would like to keep the rivalry going. "I think we both want to play in the Grand Slams and the biggest tournaments. I don't know. We'll probably be very selective."Their careers will be forever inextricably linked, but Djokovic played down the notion of a "brotherhood" with Nadal while acknowledging his deep respect and admiration for the Spaniard.
"It's a long life hopefully for both of us, and we're both family people and hopefully we can address the different side of our relationship and reflect on things that we went through together, that we lived together, the special moments in a different way."
