Islamabad administration on Monday imposed Section 144, prohibiting gatherings of five or more people
ISLAMABAD: The , processions, rallies, and demonstrations in the capital ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s planned protest on November 24.
A notification issued by Additional District Magistrate Usman Ashraf stated that the ban would remain in effect for two months, citing concerns over law and order, potential unlawful assemblies, and the current security situation. The order specifically highlighted the risks posed by planned processions and demonstrations in Islamabad.
The restrictions apply to all public spaces within the city, including the Red Zone, which houses key government buildings, diplomatic missions, and other sensitive areas. The notification clarified that any investigations, legal actions, or penalties related to violations of the ban would continue even after the two-month period expires.
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur described the November 24 protest as a “decisive call,” vowing that it would continue until all demands were met. During a consultative meeting, Gandapur discussed preparations with PTI parliamentarians from regions such as Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, and the South.
The meeting focused on organizing and strategizing for the protest, with PTI leadership determined to ensure its success. Gandapur emphasized that the protest was initiated by PTI founder Imran Khan and urged participants to make every effort to achieve their goals. He instructed party leaders to mobilize workers and the public, hold meetings at the grassroots level, and finalize arrangements to ensure a strong turnout in Islamabad.
