Seven dead, over 25 injured in Mastung blast
September 29, 2023 11:53 AMAt least 52 people were killed including a police officer and more than 100 others were injured following a huge blastnear a mosque where people were gathering for a Milad-un-Nabi procession in Mastung, Balochistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The District Health Officer confirmed the death toll while SHO Mohammad Javed Lehri said that Mastung deputy superintendent of police was among the dead.On information, security forces and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Hospital and Quetta Civil Hospital.
The Balochistan government has declared an emergency in the Quetta Hospital, summoning doctors and other paramedical staff.According to local authorities, a state of emergency has been declared at the hospitals of Mustang and also at the Civil Hospital Quetta.Mastung AC Attahul Munim confirmed that the blast took place by the car of DSP Gishkori who was to remain on the sidelines of the procession.
City Station House Officer Mohammad Javed Lehri said the explosion was a “suicide blast” and that the bomber exploded himself next to DSP Gishkori’s car.
“All resources will be used in rescue operations and relief operations, no effort will be spared in treating the injured, terrorist elements do not deserve any concession, zero tolerance policy is being followed to deal with terrorists.”

Special Remission In Prisoners' Punishment: President Announces 90-Day Relaxation On Eid Milad Un NabiPresident Dr Arif Alvi has announced a special remission of 90 days in sentence of prisoners on the eve of Eid Milad Un Nabi. The remission will be applicable for male prisoners above 65 years of age and women inmates over 60 years, who have completed one-third of their imprisonment. The persons under 18 years who have served their one-third sentence will also get the benefit of remission. President Alvi approved the remission for prisoners in accordance with article 45 of the constitution, the President's Office said. The reduction in sentence will not apply to the prisoners involved in murder, espionage, and anti-state activities. The other categories without remission include convicts of adultery, theft, dacoity, kidnapping, and terrorism. Also, the remission will not be applicable on those involved in financial crimes and the ones who incurred losses to the national exchequer.
