PTI dubs that corruption case is politically motivated
ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court on Monday extended its restraining order, barring the trial court from delivering a final order in the £190 million corruption case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb took up the acquittal pleas filed by the former PM and his wife.The prosecutor further informed the court that the trial was approaching its conclusion, with the investigating officer undergoing cross-examination since October 20. Imran Khan's counsel pointed out that this witness was the last in the case and that a conclusion to the trial could adversely impact their defense.
Separately, Bushra Bibi's lawyer, Usman Gul, explained that his client had been unable to attend the previous day’s hearing due to health reasons. The court advised against any unnecessary delays, stressing the importance of timely proceedings. After hearing arguments, the court adjourned the case for 10 days, extending its order that restrains the trial court from issuing a final judgment until further notice.
