Pakistani superstar Mahira Khan has opened up about aging , fame and the changing phases of her acting career , saying she is no longer concerned about fitting into traditional heroine roles and is instead looking forward to exploring new characters and challenges .
Speaking during a recent conversation alongside Samina Peerzada and Adeel Hashmi, Mahira reflected on how her perspective has evolved over the years and why she is enjoying this stage of life more than ever.
“There was a time when I knew that one day heroine roles would stop coming my way,” she shared. “And I think that time is gradually arriving, which is completely fine with me. ” Rather than viewing it as a setback, Mahira said she sees it as an opportunity to grow as an actor and take on roles that allow audiences to discover different sides of her talent.
“Now I want producers and directors to trust me with different roles so I can bring out parts of myself that people haven’t seen yet,” she said. Talking about beauty, glamour and aging in the entertainment industry, Mahira explained that such things have never defined her confidence. While she sometimes looks back at old photographs and laughs about how young she looked, she believes every phase of life has its own charm and significance.
The actress also spoke about the emotional connection actors develop with the characters they portray. According to Mahira, every role leaves a lasting impression because performers invest their own emotions into the characters they bring to life.
“When you play a character, you are the one experiencing those emotions,” she said. “I feel that every actor leaves a small part of themselves in a character and takes a piece of that character away with them. ” Mahira further emphasized that a strong story remains the foundation of every successful drama or film. In her view, when a story is powerful, the characters naturally become memorable and meaningful for audiences.
Reflecting on her journey in the entertainment industry, Mahira said that while she is grateful for the success she has achieved, the people she has met along the way have been the most rewarding part of her career.
“I enjoyed the success, but I enjoyed the people even more,” she shared, adding that her love for meeting and connecting with people has always remained unchanged. Her candid remarks quickly resonated with fans, many of whom praised her honest outlook on aging, acting and personal growth, while appreciating her willingness to embrace every new chapter with confidence and gratitude.
