The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has inched towards 8,000 mark early Sunday since the first patient was registered in the middle of the last month.
According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Centre early today, the number of total Covid-19 patients in Pakistan has reached 7,993 with total active cases stood at 5,966 with the addition of 514 cases since yesterday. As many as 47 of them are critical.Of the total of 7,993 cases, Azad Jammu and Kashmir has 48, Balochistan 376, Gilgit Baltistan, 257, Islamabad Capital Territory 171, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,137, Sindh 2,355 and Punjab 3,649.
Sixteen deaths took the death toll to 159 with 60 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 48 in Sindh, 41 in Punjab, two in Islamabad, five in Balochistan and three in Gilgit Baltistan. The number of total tests conducted in the country so far was 98,522 with 7,847 carried out in one day only on Saturday, April 8.
