Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar chaired a meeting of the National Task Force for eradication of polio in Islamabad. The meeting was told that in 2022, as compared to 20 cases reported in the country, only two cases have been reported so far this year. The main reasons behind this progress are the continuity of national-level polio eradication campaigns and government efforts. The Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry Of Health, National Task Force, Provincial Governments, and Administrative Authorities in the fight against polio. During the meeting, Provincial Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries informed about the current situation of polio in their respective Provinces and Government efforts. It was also mentioned that Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu And Kashmir, are now completely polio-free, while only two cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year. The meeting was attended by Federal Health Minister Dr. Nadim Jan, senior officials of the National Task Force, Chief Ministers of all four Provinces, Chief Secretaries, representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies, and relevant Senior Officials.
