President Asif Ali Zardari has extended felicitations to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the government and the people of Azerbaijan on their Independence Day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a message on Thursday, the President said Pakistan and Azerbaijan are bound by a deep-rooted fraternal relationship that dates back to its independence which draws its strength from a shared faith, rich common cultural heritage and values. He noted that over the years, bilateral ties have evolved into a robust and enduring partnership characterised by mutual trust, understanding and steadfast support for each other on issues of core national interest.
Asif Zardari stated that the people of Pakistan rejoice in the remarkable socio-economic progress, national cohesion and prosperity achieved by Azerbaijan under the dynamic and visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to further deepening and diversifying the multifaceted cooperation, particularly in the areas of bilateral trade, energy connectivity, defence collaboration and people-to-people exchanges, for the mutual benefit of both brotherly nations.
The President further conveyed his best wishes for the continued peace and prosperity of the people of Azerbaijan.
