To promote eco-friendly transport and facilitate commuters, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched Pakistan’s first fully electric
bus service in Lahore. The inaugural ceremony took place on Friday, where CM Punjab personally inspected the bus and its features.Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan shared details of the pilot project, highlighting that the e-buses have modern facilities such as GPS tracking, Wi-Fi, USB ports, and a seating capacity of 30 passengers, accommodating up to 80 in total.
The official launch is mid-February, introducing 27 electric buses and 42 modern bus shelters. Additionally, nine charging stations have been established at Green Town Hamdard Chowk, ensuring each bus can cover up to 250 km on a full charge.
