Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the country’s economic situation in the context of the prevailing regional circumstances.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the country’s economic situation in the context of the prevailing regional circumstances. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Owais Leghari, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Petroleum Division Ali Pervaiz Malik, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs and Inter-Provincial Relations Rana Sanaullah and Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani.

Also present in the meeting were Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Yar Muhammad Nasir, and Adviser to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muzammil Aslam, along with senior government officials. Participants were given a briefing on a comprehensive action plan regarding energy conservation in the country. In view of the regional situation, the meeting held a detailed discussion on austerity, simplicity and energy conservation to ensure stability of the national economy, and important decisions were taken in this regard.
