Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured nine out of twelve Senate seats from Punjab in the recent elections
LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz secured nine out of twelve Senate seats from Punjab in the recent elections. These elections covered two seats each for women and technocrats, as well as one for minority representation. Notably, seven candidates had already been declared winners unopposed.
In the contest for the two technocrat seats, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Petroleum Minister Musadiq Malik emerged victorious with 128 and 121 votes respectively. PML-N candidates Anusha Rehman and Bushra Anjum clinched the two women’s seats in Punjab, while Yasmeen Rashid and Sanam Javed from the Sunni Ittehad Council received 106 and 102 votes respectively.Earlier, seven candidates for the general seats from Punjab, including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, had been elected unopposed. PML-N’s Ahad Cheema, Pervaiz Rashid, Nasir Mehmood, and Talal Chaudhry were among those who secured their positions without contest.
