PTI has formally submitted request to Lahore Deputy Commissioner's office to seek permission for a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has formally submitted a request to the Lahore Deputy Commissioner’s office to seek permission for a rally at Greater Iqbal Park on February 8.
The application was filed by PTI leader Alia Hamza, who stressed that the party, like other political groups, has the right to organize public gatherings. In a media statement, Alia Hamza stated that February 8 represents the “theft of the people’s mandate,” and PTI plans to observe the day as a “black day.” She criticized the frequent imposition of Section 144 during PTI rallies and protests, questioning why other parties are allowed to hold events while PTI faces restrictions.
“Why is PTI not allowed when every other party gets permission to rally at Minar-e-Pakistan?” Alia Hamza said. She added that even if their request is denied, the party will still observe ‘black day’ nationwide and pursue legal action against the decision. In the meantime, PTI leadership has instructed its workers to begin preparations for the rally. If the request is rejected, the party plans to seek court intervention.
