News Desk Armed robbers looted 55 mobile phones worth approximately Rs4 million from a businessman in Karachi's high-security red zone area, prompting authorities to order an immediate investigation and arrest of the suspects, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
A case has been registered at Aram Bagh Police Station on the complaint of the victim businessman, who told police that the suspects intercepted him on Sindh Assembly Road and escaped with two cartons and a bag containing mobile phones. According to the first information report, the businessman was heading toward the Tower area after purchasing mobile phones from Star City Mall when the robbery took place.
The complainant stated that four armed suspects carried out the robbery and fled from the scene on three motorcycles. The incident occurred on Sindh Assembly Road, located in Karachi's red zone, an area that houses several important government buildings and is subject to heightened security measures. Following reports of the robbery, Sindh Home Minister and the Additional Inspector General of Karachi took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the DIG South and SSP South.
Authorities have directed police officials to arrest the suspects involved in the robbery and recover the looted mobile phones. The incident drew strong condemnation from the Karachi Mobile Electronic Dealers Association, which expressed concern over the growing security challenges faced by traders and mobile phone dealers in the city. Police said an investigation was underway and efforts were being made to identify and apprehend the suspects using available evidence and surveillance footage from the area.
