In response to President Yoon's actions, Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun has resigned, and Choi Byung-hyuk, the ambassador to Saudi Arabia, has been nominated as his replacement. General Paul LaCamera of US Forces-Korea advised American troops to remain vigilant and avoid areas with protests.
