Sugar inquiry commission's report presented in Federal Cabinet

ISLAMABAD - The inquiry commission on Thursday has presented forensic report on sugar scandal in the Federal Cabinet session chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan for discussion.

During the meeting, Federal Investigation Agency Director General Wajid Zia has briefed the members of the cabinet on the report. It is to be mentioned here that the investigation into the sugar crisis was previously delayed as the inquiry commission had sought time for submission of the final report.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Federal Minister Asad Umar, Adviser to PM Abdul Razak Dawood and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had appeared before the commission on the issue of sugar subsidy. The first deadline for the report of the inquiry commission was April 25, however, on the request of the commission, the cabinet extended the deadline till today.
