Saudi Arabia Denies Houthi Missile Attack on Riyadh Oil Facility
Yemen, Houthis, Saudi Arabia

The Saudi-led coalition rejects the Houthi claim of striking an Aramco facility in Riyadh, attributing the statement to the group's need to deflect attention from its losses in the Taiz region. As fighting intensifies in Yemen, the strategic importance of the area becomes critical for maritime security in the Red Sea.

Saudi Arabia's military coalition has dismissed claims by Yemen's Houthi group regarding an attack on the capital, Riyadh. Major General Turki al-Maliki, the coalition spokesperson, stated that the Houthi assertion of targeting a Saudi Aramco facility with missiles and drones is false and intended to divert attention from the group's setbacks in the Yemen i province of Taiz.

While the Houthis reported a successful attack resulting in a fire, independent verification of this claim is pending. This incident occurs amid a resurgence of fighting between Saudi-backed forces and the Iran-aligned Houthis, particularly around the strategic city of Taiz, following a relative calm since 2022.
