The Pakistan Railways is going to resuming the service after a lull of 56 days.
From Lahore, 22 trains are taking passengers to Multan, Sukkur, Rohri, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar. Khyber Mail is reaching Lahore at 8am while Allama Iqbal Express is reaching at 9am and from Rawalpindi.
The move is part of the government’s strategy to ease lockdown restrictions as public transport issues were being raised in connection with Eid celebrations with families at hometown. But the PPP raised concerns at the decision saying this can cause the spread of the novel coronavirus. Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid greeted passengers on the move and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan for allowing resuming operating of passenger trains in the country to facilitate the public.
