Students unveil a plan for an interim government under the leadership of Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus DHAKA – The leaders of the student movement against Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has refused to accept a military government .
Nahid Islam, a leader of the student movement, stated that they would not accept a government supported by the military. In a video message, Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmood, and Abu Bakr Mazumdar called for the formation of an interim government led by Dr Yunus. He urged the public to remain united and avoid religious incitement and division, advising protesters to cease violent activities. In a related development, Dr Yunus criticised Sheikh Hasina, claiming that she had destroyed the legacy of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He further declared that Bangladesh was a genuine free state.
