Marco Bezzecchi continues the positive momentum in the second half of MotoGP this season by setting the record for the fastest lap at the Red Bull Ring Circuit with a new “chicane”. This result strengthened Bezzecchi's motivation to win.

Bezzecchi set the new record in front of his mentor, Valentino Rossi, who watched from the sidelines. The 24-year-old racer did not complete the decisive session to qualify for the second qualifying because his motorbike ran out of fuel. He also parked the motorbike at the track barrier and then was piggybacked by Rossi using a scooter to return to the paddock.
VR46 team is currently trying to ensure that Bezzecchi will stay for the 2024 season while also securing a 2024 Ducati motor support. Negotiations are ongoing and Rossi's presence at Red Bull Ring is believed to be related to Bezzecchi's future. The VR46 Academy rider also wants to stay with VR46, but a final decision will only be known during the race in Barcelona on September 1-3.
"If behind another racer or in the middle of a group, the front tire will heat up quickly and increase pressure. As a result, the racer must reduce speed so that the motorbike can still be controlled. If not, the tire will lose grip and the risk of falling is very high."
