ISLAMABAD: Pakistan ’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Wednesday carrying what sources described as an “important message” amid ongoing diplomatic efforts surrounding Iran-US negotiations.
The visit comes as discussions between Iran and the United States continue over a possible peace understanding. Naqvi recently concluded a three-day trip to Iran, where he met several senior Iranian leaders and is expected to hold further high-level engagements during the current visit. During his stay, the Pakistani minister held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
According to Iranian state media, President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in encouraging a ceasefire following the February 28 conflict involving Iran. He also praised the roles played by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir in supporting regional stability. The Iranian president emphasized Tehran’s commitment to maintaining constructive relations with neighboring Muslim countries, stating that greater unity among Islamic nations could help limit external interference in regional matters.
Pakistan has recently increased its diplomatic engagement as part of broader efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States, with reports suggesting Islamabad has been facilitating indirect communication channels between the two sides.
