Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expresses grief over loss of precious lives
LAHORE – Eight people were killed and 40 others were injured in rain-related incidents as heavy storms and rains lashed parts of Punjab Wednesday evening.
In Khushab, two brothers were killed and their father was injured when lightning struck their vehicle. In Gujranwala, three people, including a girl, were killed when the roof and walls of their house collapsed.In Vehari, a woman and her daughter were injured after they were trapped under the rubble of a wall which collapsed due to heavy rain.In Wazirabad, a motorcyclist, caught in the strong winds, crashed into a green belt and died instantly.
In Shakargarh, three children were seriously injured when a wall of their house located on Chamal Road collapsed due to strong winds. The injured children were taken to a hospital, where the condition of two of them was reported to be critical. In Bhaira, Kabirwala, Sialkot, Pasrur, and Daska, at least 37 people were injured due to the severe storm.Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over the loss of precious lives during the thunderstorms and sympathized with the bereaved families.She also directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority , Water and Sanitation Agency , and other departments to remain prepared and vigilant during the thunderstorms.
