As heavy monsoon rains continue battering Sindh and Balochistan, flash flooding washed away a section of the Coastal Highway in Pasni, disconnecting Gwadar
– including Makran, Jaffarabad, Khuzdar and Sibi – on Friday morning but the intensity further increased by night.
On the other hand, the Met Office has warned that many areas of the province will experience downpours and the resultant flash floods for the next three days. Meanwhile, it is still raining in Karachi intermittently with varied and reduced intensity in different localities. It is expected that the weather system would stop affecting the port city by late Saturday evening.
According to the Met Office, the amount of rain recorded in different areas of Karachi during the past 24 hours was: Faisal Airbase 109 mm; Masroor Base 97 mm; Saddar, Surjani Town and Old Airport 86 mm; University Road 82 mm and Landhi 81 mm. Earlier on Friday, at least 10 people died in rain-related incident, including electrocution, in different parts of the city. As feared, many localities and thoroughfares were inundated asAlso on Friday, the ISPR said the army teams were helping the civil administration in pumping the rainwater out of the low-lying areas and rescuing the citizens in Karachi.
