Initially revealed at the Google I/O 2024 conference, the “Ask about this PDF” feature has been rolling out to Android users over the past week. It allows users to ask specific questions about PDF content, making it easier to navigate complex documents in a ChatGPT-like interaction. To use this feature, users need a Gemini Advanced subscription, Gemini set as their default assistant, and a device running on Android 15. Once enabled, users can activate the Gemini overlay while viewing a PDF file in the Files app, with an “Ask about this PDF” option appearing on-screen.
