The double-decker bus service has become closely associated with Lahore, playing a significant role in promoting tourism within the city.
These buses provide passengers with scenic views of major landmarks in Lahore, enhancing both public transport and tourism while adding to the city’s unique charm.
In the first phase of the project, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched five new hybrid double-decker buses. These eco-friendly buses are designed to highlight Lahore’s rich cultural heritage, with routes starting from Gaddafi Stadium and covering key attractions such as the Walled City, Fort Road Food Street, and Punjab Stadium.
Each bus can carry 66 passengers, with 48 seats on the upper deck and 18 on the lower deck. Originally introduced in November 2015 by former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the service provides a distinctive way for tourists to explore Lahore’s cultural landmarks. There are plans to extend the double-decker bus service to other major cities in Punjab, including Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi. Future expansions to Multan and Faisalabad are also under consideration.
