According to security sources, the Indian government has banned Sikh pilgrims from entering Pakistan since May 7, 2025.

According to security sources, the Indian government has banned Sikh pilgrims from entering Pakistan since May 7, 2025. The move comes ahead of the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, which is to be observed on June 30. Sources allege that India is attempting to politicize the situation by targeting its own Sikh citizens and using them to build pressure against Pakistan. Modi-led government has also closed the Kartarpur Corridor, further hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. In addition, Indian authorities have reportedly attacked Sikh-populated areas and attempted to damage places of worship, raising concerns over the treatment of minorities and religious freedom in India.
