In a significant step towards eco-friendly transport and boosting tourism, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched

Pakistan’s first fully electric bus service in Lahore. The launch ceremony, held on Friday, saw the CM take a firsthand ride in the bus, inspecting its features.

The e-bus service, which is part of a pilot project, is equipped with modern amenities, including a GPS location recorder, Wi-Fi, USB ports, and more. It has a seating capacity of 30 passengers and can hold up to 80 people, with additional design features such as ramps and reserved seats for differently-abled passengers. The buses are also equipped with anti-slip floor sheets for enhanced safety.

The e-bus will operate on Lahore’s longest 21-km route, covering areas such as Railway Station, Green Town, Queens Road, Mozang, Ferozepur Road, Campus Bridge, and Ichhra Canal. The service is expected to cater to around 17,000 passengers daily.The official launch of the e-bus service is set for mid-February, with 27 electric buses and 42 modern bus shelters along the route.
