12 union councils sealed in East Karachi to contain spread of coronavirus
The union councils have been sealed on the orders of East Karachi deputy commissioner. A heavy contingent of the Rangers and police sealed different areas.Earlier on Saturday, the Sindh government extended the lockdown for a week to contain the spread of coronavirus.
In a video message, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed concern over the COVID-19 situation in the province. He said that 104 new cases and six deaths have been reported in the province during the last 24 hours, which is a matter of concern. “The emergence of new coronavirus cases is 20 percent of the total tests conducted during the last 24 hours, which is the highest average across the world,” he said.
The Sindh chief minister said that 531 tests were conducted and of them 104 people tested positive. “The reason of the worsening situation is that the lockdown is not being implemented. The lockdown in Malir was weak. The number of coronavirus patients is increasing in Hyderabad,” he added. He said that 371 people have returned to their homes after the recovery and 13 more are returning to their homes today.
